I MISSED A WEEK, SRYY xx
Hi delightful humans.
How are you?
I am well. Spent superbowl Sunday in silence with my sister + baby in my parent’s dreamy house eating pretzel bites. Husbands were at a different party, parents were at a different party, we just sat around and it was gloriously simple.
If it’s alright with you I think I’ll take this week off of links to clothes. Next week I’m going to do a mega roundup of links and having an ebb / flow in that regard feels right.
Here is my current view:
As I write to you all I’m listening to my release radar and it’s a good one. My husband uses my Spotify around the house (I’m logged into the computer) so the reggae and oldies are his influence but I don’t hate it.
The soft / indie pop is me. That’s my preferred genre, and this song just came on that’s going to be on repeat all month. I’m adding to a recent favorites playlist you can listen to here.
RULE OF LIFE

I’ll probably make a TikTok about this, but I’ve been thinking exhaustively about creating a rule of life for me and my family lately.
What is that? This video explains what I’ve been reading about it but I’ll explain it in a non-christiany way since I know that’s not everyone’s cup of tea and it’s totally something EVERYONE can do/make/follow.
A rule of life is a schedule and set of practices and rhythms that make space for life to actually look like you want it to look like.
My favorite quote of all time is “How we spend our days is, of course, how we spend our lives.” -Annie Dillard.
HOW FREAKING EASY IS IT TO LOOK BACK ON YOUR WEEK AND REALIZE IT WAS FILLED WITH SH*T YOU DON’T CARE ABOUT.
I wish I could sit across from you reading this and show my passion on how much the internet and technology quickly and quietly claim all our space and attention and then poof one day we just die?
That’s something I’m personally terrified by.
It’s too easy to pick up my phone and waste precious time.
Or to say “yes” to enough things that all my time is filled and unknowingly I’m saying “no” with my actions to everything I really care about.
So I’m creating a rule of life. A schedule of practices and rhythms that keep me living the rich life that leaves me smiling on my porch as an old lady instead of fretting over all my wasted time.
Not sure what that looks like yet but here’s the throw-it-all-on-the-wall-and-organize-what-sticks:
Nature and adventure
Quiet time
Exercise
Nourishment of my body
Quality time with quality friends
Intimacy in my marriage
Undivided attention to my daughter
Reading
Gardening
Surfing
Reading
Extended family time
Cold plunges
Fasting
Whatever else I add!!!
What would be on your list? Let’s go through the process together, next week we can organize. Or maybe the week after?
Deal.
I’ll end this email with the above photos, how quickly things change.
These photos are 1 year apart in the same spot, on the beach during King Tides. (Really low tides that happen a couple times a year and bring the whole town out to see the exposed starfish and sea anemones.
Seeing how much changes in a year is making me slow down and enjoy the season I’m in.
Whatever is missing from my life can be eclipsed by what’s present if I spend even a moment tipping the scales in my mind.
What’s present? Today it’s my husband and my baby in my little run-down rental by the beach.
There are SO many ways I feel so behind in life, SO many areas I want to fix and optimize. But today I’m choosing to power my phone down, look at what I have and be grateful for it.
With that, I’ll send off this email in hopes that it sparks even a teensy bit of joy in you. Also, if you open this up in substack you can let me know what you like/want more of/could do without.
Anyways, so much love to you. I hope this finds you well or makes you smile.
xx,
Siece
p.s. my computer is dying so I’m not proofreading this. Sorry if something’s awry!
